For My Sister

Guinevere’s Promise

You have born the wind of heavy seas
and you have danced a song of sorrow
For each day is the same, an empty cup
another wineskin of ash and regret

There is a voice upon the water
who mourns for Israel in her fetters
till she can run in strength again
a King’s mare among His peasants

And His decree rings a heavy gong
who is this, growing like the dawn?
That little seal burned on your heart
will soon be as an army with banners

A theater at night; Maranda and I would like to go sometime.

Jelena's famous peas. Very tasty. While here I have developed a taste for pork, lamb, and liver; all things which few Americans make well.
Snake handling in the church. These children have developed their faith at a young age. ;)

Belgrade, Take One

A Japanese turtle...Jelena and I tried to set him free from the spirit of Zen.
An oasis in the middle of the city.

Maranda and her pancakes. This one is for you Rick.

Jelena and I enjoying wine and cheese.

So Long, Farewell

I'm heading out for Belgrade this coming Wednesday. It's only for two months but I feel like I am leaving for forever and it's a little sad. But I'm excited about seeing friends and having no job and writing and exploring. I'll try to post lots of pics and keep you all informed. This weekend I'm journeying down to Nashville to say bye to the folks and to see their new house. That's very exciting as well. Remember "The Call" July 7th. You're all invited to come stay with us.

In other news today I let Noah's balloon go outside and at first I thought he was laughing. Then it turned into a sort of whimper. So he got his other balloon from inside and walked out onto the porch to contemplate letting that one go too. But he soon decided against it and ran back inside. It's funny how they think everything really is about their world, making them happy. Do we ever really grow out of it?
